We’re Back!

As of November 6, 2021 the UVWT meetings will once again be live and in-person in the Thetford Academy Shop. Due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, we require vaccinations for all attendees, and we will be wearing masks during the meetings. We hope this will provide the safest possible environment for our demonstrations, show and tell, and general discussion. Come join us.

Claremont Maker Space

Josh Bushueff came to our September meeting to give us an update on the Claremont maker space project. They have a beautiful old building with high ceilings and lots of natural light. They plan to have a full wood shop as well as a metal working area, fabric arts, electronics, classroom and office space, as well as some studio space for lease. The business model is that of a fitness club with different levels of monthly membership.

Remembering Bob Katz

It is with great fondness that we remember Bob Katz, one of our most active members, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at his home in Grantham.

Mike Heneghan wrote:

It’s very sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He was the first woodturner I met when moving to NH. He told me all about the Granite State Woodturners and our club.

Bob had so much energy and was always trying something different to improve his turning art. Bob was one of the founders and 1st president if the Upper Valley Woodturners. He will be missed by everyone.

Recently, Bob demonstrated a painted rim technique using moon paint. That video is available here.

The UVW club will be sending a memorial contribution in Bob’s name to the Grantham Community Crisis Fund, PO box 1192, Grantham, NH 03753.
